angst & perpetual bliss

Wow. What to say here?

Today we reached 119 envelopes & packages that have showed up from PINK ARTISTS all over the globe. Just amazing! Several of you I have been in discussions with over the emotions involved here... it has been asked what i'm feeling? what I'm going through? how do i stay conscience with all of this under my roof?

uuu

Simply put...

all I can really say here is YOU did this. I initiated an idea, you followed through. This doll will erupt as 100% created by YOU. !!!

uuu

I recently met a local artist named Patty Wing who lives just down the block and has met me at Hobby Lobby last week to give me her squares. I believe she can vouch for me that I literally shook as I peeked inside her envelope to discover her contributions. I felt quite embarrassed to NOT be able to control my hands as they appeared to look strung out on caffeine but in reality were shaking because of the passion I feel towards my involvement with this project.

uuu

I've had to correct some of you when I read, "Monica's project" posted to your blogs... no, really this is OUR project, 100%.

uuu

Soon, I will share with you the dedications that have been included with the packages of squares- raw emotion, angst, pure beauty & commitment towards finding a CURE for breast cancer are the reasons for contributing. One Pink artist shared this sentiment, "there is a cure, it is called a mammogram," she sees the fight everyday as a Mammographer & Artist. My thoughts are that I REALLY need to schedule my appointment and so do you! We owe it to ourselves, to our moms, to our sisters, to our brothers, husbands, friends & children.

uuu

Every package arriving with squares has included a thank you card in whatever form- a card, gift, note, art, donations of trinkets, collage sheets, beaded objects donated to our doll. Truly, YOU know I'm humbled by your participation, your friendship, your gratitude for doing THIS, but let me say here...

uuu

WARNING: i'm exposing my heart here 100%:

I'm angry. I'm proud. I'm happy to do this for YOU but most importantly I'm doing this for the same reason you are... because I know someone affected by breast cancer. My Aunt (breath deeply) battled this cancer last year. Not only was she subjected to FIGHT she also was (breath Monica, breath) fighting breast cancer while watching my Uncle, her husband battle colon cancer (wiping tears).

uuu

My Uncle passed away. His students from ASU gathered to CELEBRATE his life. Lives were touched by the beauty of his teachings. Love gathered to pay its respects to my Uncle, much in the same way as I am now. I miss him, I love him. As much as I am doing this project for my Uncle I am equally doing this for my Aunt. Aunt Dee, if you are reading this, please know I'm lucky to know you, I'm fortunate to be blessed with my father, your brother as family. I adore you. Whenever I think of you I think of the picture where you are wearing your summer hat, floppy and colorful... with the biggest smile on your face and ALIVE in Arizona helping to raise grandkids, touching lives still as a retired teacher & mother. I love you! Please know this doll is being constructed because of you! because of your strength and belief in God, because of your passon for life (I'm shaking here)!

uuu

Equally, this doll & wall art piece is/will be constructed on behalf of ALL of the pink artists involved, for whatever reason- angst, passion, happiness, betrayal, love, humor, beauty, and involvement with breast cancer... because you MISS, love and console your loved one as I do my uncle & aunt. I'm blessed my aunt is a breast cancer survivor. Know your square is counted! Thank YOU for joining in!

Tomorrow is my 14th wedding anniversary to the love of my life, Jeff...

last meal I had in San Antonio, TX with my Aunt & Uncle I remember my Uncle

saying to Jeff, "I'm proud of you, son."
My uncle, you are missed.

Cheers to you & Jeff - may you have 14X14 (that's 196) more!

You're very generous heart is definitely on your sleeve ... thank you for sharing.

... and please remember, without YOU "our" project wouldn't even exist ... accept that YOU have been a catalyst to so much charity, hope, heart and greatness. For that, I thank you.

I would like everyone to know that it's true.. Monica's hands were shaking as she opened my envelope of squares. The raw emotion on her face nearly had me in tears. She is a joy to be with and a truly amazing young woman. I am proud to call her my new friend as I am to be part of this wonderful project. Cancer of any kind is a terrible thing.. my Mom died when she was 38 of cervical cancer ( I was 8) and her Mom (Gram) had a breast removed. Thank you for being the driving force for us all.

Happy Anniversary and hope you have many more.

My daughter's family walked for breast cancer but I am not much of a walker. You gave me the artist's way of walking - making something. I wouldn't have had the same outlet were it not for you. Hope your husband knows how blessed he is!

monica,

i just sent my square on tuesday.....upon completion, i felt so humbled to be able to be a part of this community project....and as was said....without YOU, we would not have this opportunity....i wanted my square to relflect the experience i have had walking the susan g. komen 60 mile breast cancer walk the past two years....and the effect the closing ceremonies had on me each year. my whole family was so supportive and interested in this endeavor....i am just so appreciative to be a part of it and again, i thank you so much for this opportunity!

Breathe deep girl - breathe it all in. You are making this happen.

Life without pain would not be worth living. Love comes with pain attached -- that's the deal.
You rock.

Happy Anniversary to you and your husband Monica...may you always be blessed.

My heart is just filling with joy and pride at reading your words and I thank you for sharing how you feel about this project that we have all undertaken with you.

Art is passion. Life is passion and passion fuels us to do things that can be quite monumental. Plant a seed and with the proper care it will grow. As this idea you shared with us has done.

And love -- love of those who are with us, those who are no longer -- but our memories keep those we cherish always close in our hearts.

I've left something for you today on my Esprit * d'Art blog -- funny, I was putting it together before I came here -- I'm glad I did!! It means even more to me now.

Dear friend - your heart touched mine deeply in your musings. And was a loving passionate reminder that Love is BIGger than anything - even cancer! Together we are all celebrating Life - not just the breathing kind, but the loving that invariably changes others, even as they move on. Thank you for your vision and your obedience and your love. I'm so grateful I get to be a part of this. And Happy Anniversary! ~ Mo

I was so touched reading your post, I'm in tears now too. It has been an amazing experience to see all of these people come together and create a work of art. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your project, Monica!

I am mailing my squares to you first thing Friday morning. I ended up making 7 of them, and pictures will be up on my blog sometime today!

Happy Anniversary! I too am wiping tears away from your heartfelt peak into your personal connection to this project. Yesterday, a woman in our office began the next step in her journey - they have found a lump and the next step is to have it removed. I gave her an ATC entitled "Courage" and we cried just a bit. So to her and to everyone blessings! Hugs, antonella :-)

P.S. I wanted to let you know that I sent you my squares yesterday!
