The Pink Artist Project, page TWO

The Pink Artist Collaborative art doll project
also known as Love Squared,
Page two.

Last week was "the build up,"
this week, BAM! I let ya have it
from the start.

I'm wild about the pink hair.

The inspiration...
Marge Simpson.

It's s'posed to make YOU laugh.
Go ahead, have a GOOD chuckle.

A piece of felted sweater,
stitched and stuffed
with fiberfill and sewed
"taut."
A trial "swirl" is tested with
dyed roving, felting needle
and lots of patience!
Flipping "the do" in half
and stitching it down to resemble
a Marie Antoinette style,
each swirl became our girls
curly hairdo or GIANT brain...
however YOU decide to look at it. ;)
Two broken needles and many, many
hours later... we have a FULL head of hair.
Rolling the roving in my palms
until it appeared to look like dreadlocks,
I punched away into the wee wee
weeeeee hours.
You might have noticed that up till now,
the doll arms haven't been stitched on yet?
Mostly because these kept getting in my way
while sewing on the squares...
I believe she is very happy to have
ARMS and HANDS now permanently, don't you agree?
Here is what I'd have to say is
the MOST difficult decision to date...
sweater? frock?
to cover or to EXPOSE the breasts???
So, just TODAY I decided
to go 50/50.
A month or so ago
I picked up an old piece of lace
from a downtown shop.
Dipped into watered down acrylic paint
the lace came out PERFECT...
Matte gel medium did the TRICK!
It helped to eliminate the need for stitches,
added the lovely little pattern found
on the freshly stained turquoise lace,
and kept the girly figure while NOT
covering up that itty bitty waist.
The smaller torso definitely makes the skirt POP.
What's she smiling about you may wonder?
Maybe it's the freshly manicured fingernails?

Or the new bracelet?

Originally it was thought that the flower would go in her hair,

but it just looked so much prettier on her wrist-

not to mention it STOOD out far more.

While the dyes, paint, and glue dry,

a collar is in the works fashioned from

timtex and metallic paint.

We're getting closer to the finish now.

Art Doll Quarterly inquired when our beloved doll

might be complete and I told them I'm shooting for April 1.

That's one week from TODAY,

so while the final touches are being made,

I'll step back and let YOU soak up the latest.

Meet me back here on the eve of Tuesday April 1

to see -fingers crossed- the COMPLETED doll

(if not, I always have APRIL FOOL's to fall back on).

Just teasing. -wink-wink-

Sidenote: Thank you for your awsum comments! I've tried to email those of you with questions, one of which was how tall is the doll and now that she has hair I can tell you she is just about 39" tall. While I'm not certain why, I have had roughly 10 emails returned to me since the start of this project while writing some of you so please know I've tried my best to keep communication open with everyone. If you did not hear from me, know it may have gone to spam, your comment may have come through (as many did) as no-reply comments, or my response was one of the emails returned, but I read every note and THANK YOU for sending the notes of encouragement & support for this project. I'm having an absewlute blast and hope you are too! :)
